Before reviewing this app, I just want to mention that its graphics are eerily similar to the PowerPenguins iOS game. The reason I find this a bit surprising is because the creator of AppComrade (formally AppReviews4u) developed PowerPenguins. Now that “Freaks!!” is being reviewed on our site, I can’t help but feel like this style of graphics has real potential.
Gameplay
One might compare this game to Angry Birds, but it’s very different. Whereas Angry Birds is about accuracy in power and angle, Freaks!! is about solving puzzles. In this game you get to toss around a ball which breaks elements and freaks made of glass in order to save the trapped princess.
You get unlimited tries during each level to break whatever glass you want. In the beginning, this game seems really easy. But as you progress through the levels, things begin to ramp up. The challenge in addition to beating each level is also to beat it efficiently so that you earn as many stars for it as you can. The first stage has 24 levels, and I haven’t even gotten to the second stage. So there’s plenty of content in this game.
Mission Accomplished
I really like Freaks!!’s indie graphic style. That, along with the creative game idea just wins me over with this game and developer.
Room to improve
I wish you could break glass while dragging the ball. Or at least I wish it was explained in the tutorial that you can’t break glass while dragging the breaking ball.
Conclusion
If you like puzzle games, or any sort of game similar to Angry Birds, then chances are that you’ll love Freaks!! For just a dollar it can provide a gamer with a lot of challenging entertainment.
InstaTxtr is one of the most comprehensive photo editing app I’ve ever used. It was free up until September 7th as a promotional special, but is regularly $1.99. This app is available on the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
Features
Using this app you can add over a hundred light leaks, frames, colors, filters, and customizations to your images. Whether you decide to shoot photos within the app, or to just import them into the editor, InstaTxtr will do wonders for your photos.
As expected it has all of the necessary photo adjustment features such as contrast, brightness, clarity, gamma, vibrance, sharpness, etc. It also has the ability to add text to images as well as customizable photo filters. Whereas other photo editing apps limit you to a handful of photo filters, InstaTxter provides the user with endless customizable photo filters.
Mission Accomplished
In terms of making it easy to take and edit amazing photos, InstaTxter succeeds beyond doubt. Sharing photos created using this app is also extremely easy and quick.
Room to improve
My only qualm with InstaTxtr is its user interface. The interface seems clunky at times and doesn’t look like what you’d expect from such a feature-full app.
Conclusion
For whatever reasons you take photos, edit them, and share them, InstaTxtr is an essential app. Once you download this photo editor, you’ll never need to download another.

Amplifind is one of those magical apps you find once in a blue-moon that are so darn good you’d expect them to come with iOS.
Using Amplifind you can import music into libraries from local iTunes libraries, downloaded music, SoundCloud, GrooveShark, and Spotify-member accounts. From there those songs can also be put into playlists.
3G or WiFi is required for remote songs to play from music sites, but man is it cool to build your libraries like this. Being able to play your favorite songs for free from SoundCloud or GrooveShark without buying them is really great. Not to mention how much more convenient it is to play songs directly as you want to play them, without needing to purchase them through iTunes first. Using Amplifind you may never even need to buy another song again.
This app also has a music visualizer which you can use. There’s also a powerful sound engine which equalizes various parts of your songs’ songs as desired.
Mission Accomplished
Everything from the features and user interface are amazing in this app. There is simply nothing about it that needs improvement or fixes.
Conclusion
In my opinion, Amplifind is the best music library manager. The $2.99 it costs is nothing compared to the amount of time and money it can save you in music costs and searching. It would be great if there was a “Lite” version for people to try out for free before buying the $2.99 version. But really, there’s nothing to doubt about this app. There’s a reason it’s rated 5 out of 5 stars by all of its users.

YoCutie is a chatting app designed by App Fiction GmbH. It is available on the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.
Using this app you can browse profiles and chat to other people that you find interesting. When first signing up, users get to add videos and photos to their profile information. It’s interesting to see that YoCutie has this video feature for profiles, because even the bigger chatting apps out there still don’t have such a great feature. Definitely a great idea on the developers’ part.
Users can also verify their profile to connect with others more, add their age and city, height, jobs, bio, and other info to their info page.
One a user gives another user a “yo,” the receiver will be notified and they can choose to “yo” that person back. Once two users have “yoed” each other, then they can begin to talk via the chatting feature.
When using this app you can also go to “My Cuties” to list out people you’ve been interested in, people that were interested in you, and people that you’re already connected with.
Premium members (that pay monthly or yearly) also get some great features. They are able to receive more “yo’s!” because they are displayed to other users before the free members. Premium members also have no Yo! limitations per day, they are shown no advertisements, can ignore other users, and can also show off their premiums status if desired.

Unlike other chatting apps that are limited to photos for profile pictures and information, YoCutie takes it up a notch by offering video reviews. This chatting app is really great because it doesn’t take long to connect with someone and start talking to them.

I wish the introduction was a bit more classy. Now you just scroll down a page. A quick powerpoint would look much sleeker. But I guess I am being too picky.
Conclusion
If you’re interested in meeting people over the internet or just chatting with people, then this is a must-have app. It is free and makes chatting with a verified person over the internet really simple.

Saying all of this, the app is only 10MB so it downloads quickly and doesn’t take up a lot of space.

I’m not really sure what the database tab is for in this app. I think a quick intro when you first open AnimeHub would be great for educating the “newbies” like me.
Conclusion
If you’re into anime or manga then this app is as much a must-have as the phone app is for an iPhone owner. There’s no doubt about the value of this app for anime/manga lovers. The good news is that it’s free and there are no in-app purchases, so you get the best experience without having to buy anything.

The visual editor lets you place pin ball shooters, as well as props, plungers, and boards to create various sounds, single notes, and small loops.

While using Pinball DJ to create my own tracks, I did not find any glitches or shortcomings. The learning curve is really simple because of the tutorials that the app comes with. Once you download Pinball DJ, you’ll be making cool beats in no time!

For fans of pin ball games, machines, or sounds, this is a must-have app. Beat makers will also enjoy this “unconventional” way of putting together sounds and tracks. There’s even a revolutionary physical music-engine which the sound pros will appreciate. This isn’t just a little app where things hit each other and make cool sounds. Pinball DJ is akin to a powerful sound engine and beat maker, although it is quite a silly and fun one at that.

SquareWords is an interesting free game which one could incorrectly compare to Sodoku or Crossword Puzzles. There are similarities no doubt, but SquareWords involves two players much more than these games. The best way I can describe SquareWords would be something along the lines of “Jenga with letters.”
In this game you choose letters to use on your board to form words, but your opponent must also use those same letters. Each player has their own separate board, so they aren’t limited by the open spaces left after their opponent makes a move. Players however are challenged by using letters which their opponents used, and also using difficult letters themselves to foil their opponent.
After each player plays their move, they get to see the points of the their opponent. Only when the game is finished do they get to actually see each other’s boards.
Mission Accomplished
SquareWords succeeds in being a really great game to play with friends. You can challenge other friends who have their own phones with this game, you can invite friends to get SquareWords, you can play random people online that are similar in skill level, and you can also play against the computer. As expected, you can also chat with your opponent.
The best part about SquareWords, other than it being a really innovative game idea, is that it is available in many different languages ranging from English and Dutch to Portuguese. Many indie word games are limited to a few languages, but SquareWords is most likely available in your language no matter its popularity.
Room to improve
This game is really great, but the learning curve is a bit difficult at first. I didn’t really understand the game or how it worked from the instructional video created by the developers. Only when I started playing the game and finishing two rounds, did I understand how it work. If the game mechanism was explained a bit better I think that a lot more people would give this game a try before passing up on downloading it.
Conclusion
If you like challenging games where creativity counts, not to mention being on the offensive, then SquareWords is for you. Give it a try if you’ve enjoyed any sort of puzzle or word game in the past. With SquareWords you’ll get a chance to test your puzzle solving skills, while also battling your opponent.

Lister is like the digital bookshelf for locations in which you can create lists and share them with friends. Friends can even chime in and add their own locations to those lists.
Features
To start a list you just need a title, a date, and a location. For example you could start a list titled “Best Hotels in NYC” located in NYC. Then you can open it up and start adding hotels from the list of hotels in the area. Friends that view your list can do so either through a regular list, or through the visual map which shows where each hotel is located.
Each hotel can also be tapped on to gain more information such as phone number, ratings, hours, and website. If your list is about bars, national parks, or other sorts of attractions, the app still loads in all the information about that area such as phone numbers and hours.

This app is free and there are no ads in sight. Not to mention that it doesn’t bug you with any in-app purchases. This means that from the moment you download this app and start using it, you’re getting the best experience possible without having to invest any further.
The idea behind sharing locations through lists, just like we used to be able to share our bookshelves and music libraries, is also really creative and useful in today’s day and age.
Lister’s user interface and features are also really great.
Room to improve
I wasn’t able to find out how to add custom locations to my lists. It appears that you can only add locations from Lister’s database of hotels, bars, restaurants, parks, and other venues. This is a setback because if you want to add a new place to your lists, you won’t be able to find it in the database and there’s no way to input a custom address.
Conclusion
If you’re looking to share great places with your friends, and vice versa, then Lister is a must-have app.
