000000289Inkvite is an application created by Eastree Ltd. It is free and available on the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.
Inkvite allows you to sign up using Twitter and Facebook and write stories with your friends. You can choose to write a micro sized story that is 1120 characters long, a standard one 1680 characters long, or an epic story 2240 characters long.

Whatâ??s really cool about this app is that you can write your stories with up to three other friends or strangers. You can invite your friends using Twitter or Facebook to help you with your story. In a Micro sized story everyone gets to write a quarter of the story, in a standard story everyone gets to write twice, and in an epic one everyone gets three turns to write.

As soon as youâ??re done with your piece of the story your friends will be alerted so they can finish the next part. But if you donâ??t want to collaborate on your stories you can also do a â??solowriteâ? by yourself.

You can also checkout other peopleâ??s stories, put stories in your shelf, and manage drafts in Inkvite.

Mission Accomplished

While using this application I was impressed with the quality of the user interface and functionality. Inkvite is bound to get you writing and having fun with your friends, and for free too.

Room to improve

I wasnâ??t able to find any shortcomings or glitches in Inkvite.

Conclusion

For a free application Inkvite sure does over deliver. If you’re into writing short stories, or want to try out story collaboration, then this is a great solution. Why not give it a try today?

Arcade game Image

Throughout the years, many video games have passed through the doors of arcades across the world. The types have games have varied from violent fighting games to puzzle games. There were the classics, such as Pac-man and TMNT, and newer games have come out, such as Avengers Hulk.

With all these different options, itâ??s hard for some to choose a favorite. For others, their preferences is so high, they wonâ??t play any other games. Here are a list of some of the favorites, current and classic, in no particular order.

Street Fighter

For me, this game is what an arcade game is supposed to be. Chun-Li, the strongest woman in the world, is every girls hero. She always kept up with the guys at the very least, often winning against them.

This is also one of the games that some actually prefer as an arcade game as opposed to on an at-home consol. Many canâ??t imagine trying to roll a Katamari on an arcade machine, and I hardly want to do the same motion with Sonic the Hedgehog. Street fighter, on the other hand, becomes an even greater experience with the addition of buttons and a joy stick on a large machine.

All across America in California, to Hawaii, to Michigan, and more, there are Street Fighter arcade machines. There is even a website dedicated to locating these machines just for Street Fight IV.

Frogger

This might be the most aggravating game. That frog just doesnâ??t know how to move quickly, and seems to jump the second after you tell it to, landing right into a car.

And I canâ??t stop playing.

Unlike Street Fighter, itâ??s how bad the play performance can be that will keep you coming back. You canâ??t help but want to keep yelling at the screaming, swearing this will be the time I make it.

Ms. Pacman

Most canâ??t even fully explain why they vastly prefer the female counterpart to Pac-man himself. Maybe itâ??s her great use of a bow as an accessory, or the weird attempt at making a circle have a gender, but I love this game possibly the most out of any arcade game.

She comes off about ten times sassier as Mr. Pacman, yet has the same basic concept that made me like the original. The whole game is trying to eat a bunch of dots while going through a maze and avoiding ghosts that want to eat you. On paper, this sounds completely ridiculous, yet itâ??s one of the most popular games of all time.

Whether itâ??s a Ms Pacman arcade machine or the new flash version, most will always wish they had the style and pizazz to pull off a big red bow, red gloves and red boots the way she does, and continue to play this bread-crumb path of a maze every chance I get.

Scribblenauts Remix is a game created by Warner Bros. It costs $.99 and is available on the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch.

Gameplay

Scribblenauts has a sandbox mode which allows you to play without solving puzzles, and a mission mode as well. In the mission mode you have to solve puzzles by spawning things such as werewolves, potions, wizards, and anything else you can imagine to help the main character, Maxwell, complete each level.

You can expect the levels to require radically different ideas to complete. One level might require that you drop a box in front of zombies to save some bystanders, while another level might require you to spawn things that belong in an aquarium.

Spawning things in the game is just a matter of clicking on the notepad icon and typing in the name of the thing you want to spawn. You can spawn animals, objects, potions, and many other things.

While Scribblenauts comes with 50 levels and you can also purchase an extra 50 for $1; the real fun comes when playing in the sandbox.

Itâ??s fun to spawn things like lizards, Scylla, and wizards, and watch them battle each other to the death. You can even spawn objects using adjectives. For example a whale isnâ??t really fun to spawn. But if you spawn a â??giant zombie peaceful military flying rideable red whaleâ? youâ??ll get some unexpected yet fun results. The whale will be mountable by Maxwell, it will have zombie characteristics but it wonâ??t attack anyone, and it will also have guns which it can use to attack things if ordered. Howâ??s that for an iPhone game?

Mission Accomplished

This game has a lot of things to spawn and you wonâ??t get bored of it quickly. The idea of Scribblenauts, the game itself, and the graphics are really great as well.

Room to improve

Thereâ??s a limit on how many things you can spawn at a time. If thatâ??s a problem for you though, you can always buy the PC version for more fun.

Conclusion

For $1 youâ??ll effectively be buying a game that will never get boring. If youâ??re the type of person that would love to battle a â??giant military flying angry volcanoâ? versus a â??tiny angry potent water breathing wizardâ? then this game is for you.

The game is enjoyable by anyone, of any age, of any gender. Youâ??ll have to give it a try to see just how entertaining it is.

Tropical Fish Shop 2 is available for the iPad with a version available for the iPhone too. It is a slide and match type puzzle game that is great fun.

This is one game I’ve kept on my device since downloading it. It’s great fun and after clearing the game the first time round, I intend to go through and clear this game again, unless they bring out a third version that is.

The object of the game is to touch and slide the sea creatures, such as fish, sea horses, jellyfish, clams and starfish, to create combos. If you match three in a row the creatures disappear, four and five creature combos give extra bonuses. Whilst you are doing this you must also refill the air in your dive tank by matching combos of air bubbles that appear. Sometimes this is easier said than done, as if you let the air bubbles collect in random places at the bottom of the grid it can be tricky to recover them.

As well as excellent slide and match games, there are also puzzle games integrated as a bonus, where you have to find hidden objects before your time runs out. When you complete a level you earn virtual money to kit out your very own fish shop, in a style of your liking. There are dive competitions to enter too, where you play against an opponent in head to head matches. This is definitely one of my all time favourite games.

When you slide and match creatures gold coins appear at the top of the screen that you have to bring to the bottom of the grid. There are a lot more things you can do in the game by obtaining special abilities if you match multiple combos.

Mission Accomplished

There is a lot of gameplay for your money in this game and the game is varied. This game is an all time classic and you’d be hard pushed to get bored in this game as it’s immersive. The graphics are colourful and striking.

Room to improve

The game could be longer with more added levels. I was kind of disappointed when I cleared the game, but this is a sign of a good game afterall. So even though there are plenty of levels, I’d like to see the developers add even more with updates.

Conclusion

Well worth the money! A cracking game which will provide hours of fun.  The game has a great ‘feel good’ feeling to it too.

British Airways recently bought 18 new aircraft from Boeing; in fact it bought 18 787 Dreamliners as it continues to expand its long-haul flight routes. However, could this signal the end for BAâ??s classic 747, as it plans to gradually take this out of service eventually?

This deal with Boeing was supposedly worth £2.6 billion, with many more airlines looking to take the Dreamliner route.

So what does this spell for the future of aerospace engineering and the way in which we fly?

Twenty or thirty years ago, aerospace engineering developments focussed on efficiency i.e. speed, design and comfort. However today, and over the last decade, developments have focussed more on eco-efficiency.

When I was researching this article, I came across a great feature on the BBC News website speaking about the advances in aerospace engineering. As these improvements continue to develop, it is thought that by 2050 we could be seeing the likes of:

An approximate rise of 50% in the population â?? which is approximately 9 billion more people. And, of course, the more people there are the more flights there will be.

Halving of carbon emissions â?? even though there will be four or five times more planes in the sky by then, due to the rise in population.

Transparent planes â?? although it has been anticipated that one day there will be a completely transparent aeroplane, the likelihood of this coming to fruition isnâ??t very likely. However, while totally transparent may not be possible, transparent elements most definitely are. Instead of windows, there could be transparent panels replacing windows, providing an in-flight panoramic view.

Lighter and stronger â?? by 2050 planes will be a lot more eco-friendly as they will be lighter, but stronger at the same time. The use of solar energy will be further utilised, perhaps by having solar cells on top of the plane in order to reduce the need for energy to run the plane, such as fuel. We could also see developments for self-cleaning wings.

iPhone app â?? you may even be able to use your smartphone to combat the stress of airport queues in 2050 (or whatever the equivalent mobile phone contraption of that time may be). Using, for example, a digital application, would still allow people to be dealt with on an individual basis whilst cutting queues and perhaps the need for an airport at all.

No airports â?? yes, planes need a runway to take off and land but do they really need an airport. If the administrative side of flying goes electronic, providing that there is thorough insight into any security risks, there is no real need for an airport. Anyone who is deemed a security risk would have to be physically, but still no need for an airport.

Jules Verne’s Return To Mysterious Island is a game of survival and puzzle solving. It’s not an easy game and suits people looking for a real challenge.

At the start of this game you are shown as the character ‘Mina’ who has been washed up on a mysterious island after her sailing ship sinks. You first end up on a beach scene where you must find a way to light a fire and find food to get the energy to progress further into the game. Hint: I got stuck in this game because I ate all the eggs, so try to keep a few eggs for later in the game for making cakes.

The game is a 2D adventure game but with stunning scenery. You actually feel like you are alone on an island when playing the game. To make your isolation easier there is good in-game music, with the navigation being easy to pick up. The idea is to find and pick up objects that you can combine in your inventory to create tools and other items.

Later on in the game you meet a monkey that helps you reach areas in which you have to climb. The scenes are well planned and you sometimes have to backtrack and revisit a scene to find a new object. This game is not easy! I like this, but others may get frustrated. If you get stuck you can always look online for a walkthrough. I hit a brick wall quite a few times in this game and often didn’t progress for half an hour. Again, I like a challenge so this kind of gameplay suits me just fine. With the game not being a synch to play it makes the gameplay longer and you get your money’s worth.

There are puzzles at key points in the final stages of the game and the codes are quite fun to work out how to crack. There is a beach scene, inland scenes, a ‘granite house’ scene inside rock caverns and even scenes inside Captain Nemo’s Nautilus craft. The app is built around Jules Verne’s writings and the reason why it’s called ‘Return’ To Mysterious Island is because there have been people stranded on the island beforehand. This is part 1 of the adventure, with there being a part 2 available as well. I’m currently playing part 2 and it is tougher than part 1 – which makes it more of a challenge in my eyes.

On the island you have a mobile phone, but you must work out a way to build a battery to recharge it. I love the way that chemicals and natural materials can create items. The developer has really thought in detail about how elements work together.

I’m not going to spoil the surprise, but there is one part in this game where I jumped out of my skin, as there is a monster on the island . . .

This review was for the iPad version of the game, but there is also an iPhone version available.

Mission Accomplished

The game is a real challenge, it’s the perfect game for people who love island survival type scenarios and there are also plenty of other events and mysteries on the island to solve, other than just surviving. The general knowledge puzzle in Captain Nemo’s quarters I especially enjoyed. It’s one of those games where you may have to go away and think before coming back to the game to look at things with a fresh perspective.

Room to improve

For gamers who like easy games where you don’t have much of a challenge, they will quickly become frustrated. Therefore, it would be perhaps a good idea to have a cheats button for when they get stuck. However, I prefer games with no hints or cheats to fall back on, so this is debatable.

Conclusion

A very challenging and immersive game which will definitely appeal to people who are bored of easy to complete games. The graphics and illustrations are beautiful and the research done by the developers in looking into elements combining is especially evident.

EPROMs 4M, 2M, 256k, 16kbit

There comes a time for most computer users when your current machine is running too slow.

This can be for various reasons and usually you can sort this out with a clean install of your operating system. But if you have started to use applications that are a bit meatier than your machine is used to handling, you may be facing a memory problem. Provided you are happy to mess around with your computer a little bit, there is no reason why you canâ??t have a go at upgrading the memory yourself. This article takes a look at the best practice to follow if you wish to upgrade this important feature.

Why Upgrade?

As computers are becoming more powerful, the companies that design the games we play are also progressing with their developments. Some of the games have absolutely stunning graphics and these require powerful machines to run them. Your computerâ??s memory may not be up to the job any more. A powerful memory card will allow your computer to run more than one task at the same time without affecting the processing speed. You could always buy a new machine, but this option is far cheaper.

How Much Do I Need?

Most computers will have at least 2 GB RAM fitted as standard and this can be plenty if you donâ??t install any flashy games or applications. But when you start to push the memory, you may find that your machine grinds to a halt and this can be very annoying indeed. The way that you upgrade your memory will depend on the configuration of your computer system. The cost of the memory upgrade will also depend on the type of memory card you require. A laptopâ??s memory will be more expensive than a PC memory upgrade. You can find many programs online that interrogate your memory setup and will tell you how to take the next step up.  Some of them even sell the memory cards and allow you to order these over the net. It is a good idea to double your memory if you wish to see a significant difference in your computerâ??s performance.

Installation Time

Photo Day Six

You will need to power off your machine and open up the casing so you can access the motherboard. Once you have done this you should locate the memory cards that are already installed on your motherboard. Depending on how many free slots you have available you can either remove the old card or add your new one to the free slot. Be very careful when you are handling these cards as they are very delicate, particularly on the metal edge.  Slide the memory card into the slot and be careful to line the card up with the notches perfectly. You should not have to press the card too hard when bedding it into the slot. On most computers, the clips will automatically snap into position when the card is seated correctly.

Enjoy Your New Memory!

Check that your cards are correctly seated, they should not move when touched lightly. Put the computer case back in place and turn your machine back on. The â??my computerâ?? specifications should update automatically and your computer will now run better than ever!

Movie Reel Image

The opportunity to start out with nothing and become successful is a dream shared frequently by Hollywood, and there have been a number of uplifting movies showcasing such rises to success. Often starting from a place that is the lowest of the low, the characters in these films usually have to conquer formidable odds and create something extraordinary or unique to rise above the rest.

The following films are examples of people who started out with nothing and ended up with everything.

1. “The Pursuit of Happyness” (2006)

Starring Will Smith and his son, Jaden Smith, “The Pursuit of Happyness” is an inspirational story about a humble man who must take care of his child after his wife leaves him and he ends up destitute on the streets.

To become a success, Will Smith’s character, “Chris Gardner,” takes an internship that pays nothing to have a shot at becoming a successful banker. The movie shows that even in the direst of circumstances, someone who is committed to their dream and willing to take a chance can become a success.

2. “Dreamgirls” (2006)

As was once said famously, “there’s no business like show business,” and for the characters in “Dreamgirls,” rising to the top of the music charts is a remarkable journey. Starring Jamie Foxx, Beyoncé Knowles, Eddie Murphy, and Jennifer Hudson, the movie showcases the problems with fame and how making the wrong decisions or being selfish in the music business can lead to disaster.

3. “Boiler Room” (2000)

The term “boiler room” is the name given by investment bankers for the room in the firm where all the high powered deals happen and in the 2000 film of the same name, stars Vin Diesel and Giovanni Ribisi play two men who are caught up in the wild atmosphere of Wall Street and some potentially unethical dealings.

The tagline for the film read, “There’s no such thing as making too much money or taking too many risks,” and in business that’s often the case. It’s a cutthroat world where anyone can get chewed up and spit out by the corporate machine.

4. “Gia” (1998)

There is almost no industry or business that breeds such stress in its participants and such a willingness to self-destruct as the world of modeling, and in the 1998 movie “Gia,” starring Angelina Jolie, the turbulent life of real-life model Gia Carangi is showcased in graphic detail.

Gia came from truly humble beginnings and the movie shares the story of a model who was destined for the highest successes in the industry, and who would eventually succumb to the forces of drugs and the AIDS epidemic.

5. “The People vs. Larry Flynt” (1996)

Perhaps no one has impacted the business of pornography publishing more than the volatile real-life Larry Flynt. In the 1996 biographical movie, star Woody Harrelson portrays Flynt in all his bombastic glory as he rises from a small-time publisher of nude magazines to one of the most surprising defenders of free speech who has ever been inside a courtroom.

Larry Flynt took enormous chances with his freedom in his zeal to become a successful publisher, and is a fascinating figure of someone who started out as a person most thought was disreputable yet became a towering figure for such fundamental freedoms of American life.

Each of these films shares the struggles, failures, and successes of people who climbed their way to the top of an industry and sat at the peak of success. Whether the characters stayed at the top or tumbled down to the bottom after seeing such impressive heights, each film offers a glimpse into the dream of every person to make it big in business and in life.
