‘Sail A Song’ by Mueller&Polster is a very enchanting and relaxing game to play as you can play along to your favourite music.

The object of this game is to sail along on your ship and collect as many stars as you can for your true love. I was addicted to this game from the moment that I started playing it.

This game is currently the top music game in Germany and it’s not hard to see why. When you open up the app you are taken through a short intro and then asked to name your ship after your one true love. You then select a music track from your personal music list or sail along to the main theme tune of the game.

There is a line of musical notes that run across the screen and the idea is to manipulate the notes by dragging your finger up and down on the right hand side of the screen. This creates waves in the musical notes which carry your ship up and down and can cause your ship to jump.

You gain more points by jumping, rather than just flatly sailing along. There are also fireflies to collect to keep a set of storm lamps illuminated. If your storm lamps go out it is game over. Each lighthouse acts as a checkpoint in the game as when you pass a new lighthouse you are given a new set of storm lamps. You can also get various bonuses by star collecting combos.

The game gets progressively more challenging as you advance and there are new features that emerge, such as moving stars and stars that offer more ‘jump resistance’, as in the physics objects, being the stars repel your ship more.

You are given seaman’s rank and you have to gradually increase your rank by completing set challenges on levels.

There are so many neat little details and attention to detail in this game. For instance, the light houses’ beams rotate and fish, dolphins and whales occasionally surface from the rolling sea at the base of the screen.

The graphics are top quality illustrations and the main menu is easy to navigate around. I liked the icon for this game too as it is very eye catching.

I found that when playing I felt very relaxed, as the game flows along with the bonus of being able to play along with a music track that takes your fancy at that moment.

Adults as well as children will enjoy this game, as it can be as challenging as you’d like it to be. If you just want to play to relax you can, or you can concentrate on climbing up the ranks to hit levels that are a real challenge.

This app was made as a crowdfunding project to support and celebrate the release of the developer’s new accoustic album AHOI.

This is one of the best games I’ve had the pleasure of reviewing and very addictive. This app is priced at under $1, which is very fair considering the amount of enjoyment gained from this cute and immersive game.

This game is unique and fun to play. A+++!

Hi, Kevin here reviewing ‘Sail A Song’ by Mueller&Polster, a music based game app which is currently the top paid Music game in Germany.

It’s not hard to see why this game is a top game after you see how good this app is. Let’s go ahead and start the app up.

Start app . . .

When we open the app there’s a really neat world map screen, where we have 4 options presented to us. To play online, an about page, an options menu and a ‘best’ menu to check your progress.

Let’s go into the best menu . . .

Click on ‘Best’ . . .

Here you can see my current points and stars collected, as well as my seaman’s rank. You start off ranked as an ordinary seaman and then work your way up the ranks.

OK > Options . . .

Here we can look at how to play the game and also change the name of our boat.

Replay Intro . . .

I’ll replay the intro for you here . . .

Select Music Track . . .

Okay, let’s start a game. First you can select the music to which you want to sail to. You can select a particular track list, shuffle it or listen to the theme tune. I’m selecting a song I made up in Garageband here, not to infringe on any copyrights in this video.

Play Game . . .

1) So, the idea of this game is to move the record on the right hand side up and down with drag movements to cause waves in the music to cause your ship to jump.

2) The object is to catch as many stars as you can on your sailing journey.

3) You must catch fireflies to keep your storm lamps illuminated, and if these storm lamps go out it’s game over. What’s really neat is that the fireflies and lamps change colour after you pass a lighthouse. The lighthouses act as a kind of check point as passing a lighthouse will illuminate all of your storm lamps again.

4) There are various bonuses for jump catches, which have more effect than just sailing flatly.

5) Catching 3 stars in a row gets you an extra storm lamp. And catching 4 stars in a row will illuminate all of your storm lamps. There is also a joker star which will keep your last storm lamp illuminated one time.

6) What’s really cool about this game is that there is no pause button. The game automatically pauses when you pull your finger off the screen.

7) The graphics are amazing in this game, this is professional artwork and look like top quality illustrations out of a children’s book.

8) The attention to detail in this game really grabs me. There are waves at the base of the screen, the rotating lights from the light houses to the cute hearts that pop out of your boat as you sail along.

9) This game has a magical feel to it and you can sail along to your favourite tune.

10) One thing I found too is that it is relaxing to play and not stressful. It kinds of leads you into an enchanted musical world or your own.

11) There won’t be any walkthrough to this game as it is through feel and intuition that you can improve. Kind of like riding a bike, no one can tell you a method for balance. You just have to find a way through natural feel, like playing this game.

12) The blue tag in the lower left hand side of the screen tells you your current progress level, and the anchor button in the lower right hand side of the screen can take you back to the main, set volumes amongst other things.

13) At the end of a sailing run the game will tell you how many stars you’ve collected for your true love and you’ll also receive a star score.

14) To earn a new rank you have to pass a certain set of goals. Such as when you want to go from being an ordinary seaman to an Able Seaman, where you have to catch 75 stars, score at least 3000 points and pass the 4th lighthouse.

Conclusion . . .

In a nutshell, this game has stunning graphics, is really cute and addictive in a relaxing way and is a great way to include your favourite music as an actual part of the game. I would highly recommend this game. A big thumbs up from me. Thank you for watching

Workaholic Symptoms

Are you a workaholic?

According to Psychology Today, a workaholic is someone who works to the exclusion of other life activities, who is consumed with thoughts and feelings about work, and who often does more than is expected at work. Being a workaholic is more than just working too hard. According to Bryan E. Robinson (author of Chained to the Desk: A Guidebook for Workaholics), a hard worker is able to sit at their desk dreaming about a holiday, while a workaholic will be on holiday, thinking about work. Overwork has serious implications, both relationship and health-wise. The Japanese â?? who are notorious for their culture of workaholism â?? even have a term for it, karoshi, which means â??death by overworkâ??. If you think you may be a candidate for keeling over at your desk, here are some signs to look out for.

1. Thereâ??s no off switch

Do you work just for the sake of working, and do you feel the need to be on the go all the time? According to the New York Times, workaholics just canâ??t stop. They work on weekends, they always stay at the office late, theyâ??re glued to their smartphones while on holiday, and they take their laptops to bed. Their personal relationships often suffer, as partners (justifiably) feel that all attention is given to work. According to Robinson, workaholics often have a common trait: an inability to be intimate. Has your spouse, partner, boss or employee ever told you just to â??stopâ??? A hard worker knows when to call it a day and go home. A workaholic, however, has no boundaries and is at a complete loss when not being busy.

2. Youâ??re a perfectionist

According to Robinson, if you have an obsession with doing things â??rightâ??, then youâ??re predisposed to becoming a workaholic. A desire to be in control, fear of failure, and over-achievement are also key indicators and drivers of workaholism. Robinson describes different types of workaholics, a classic one being a â??Savouring Workaholicâ??. This type of work-obsessed individual gets bogged down by the details, canâ??t let projects go, and even creates additional work when projects are almost finished! They live by the maxim: If you want a job done properly, you need to do it yourself. According to Gayle Porter (Rutgers School of Business), they often have strong controlling personalities, and they feel that if they step away, everything will fall apart in an instant.

3. Youâ??re addicted

On the rare occasion that you do take a break, you make sure youâ??re on-call 24/7. Work to you is like a drug, and you go into withdrawal without it. You have no problem working very long hours, and you feel uneasy if youâ??re not at your desk. However, even though you may be in the grip of work addiction, there is a way to kick the habit. According to Leslie Perlow (author of Sleeping with your Smartphone), workaholics can turn their problem around by simply leaving work early for one day a week. Just one day.

Perlow undertook a study with high-flying management consultants, where he forced them to finish up early one day a week. They were encouraged to use the time to do something non-work related, like exercise, spend time with their family or see a movie. Most of them panicked, as they felt that things would simply unravel without them, but he encouraged them to work as a team, and cover for each other by taking turns. The results were astounding. Almost all the consultants reported a greater sense of well-being and even an increase in productivity.

Workaholism can be overcome. Like all addictions it just takes a shift in mind-set and a willingness to admit thereâ??s a problem. Life is just too short, and the cliché is true that on your deathbed you certainly wonâ??t regret that you spent less time at work. Although society deems hard work a positive trait, overwork is potentially hazardous. Leave work early once a week, have interests outside of the office and, most importantly, learn to let go.

Robot Football

We’ve all seen movies or games where futuristic sports make use of robotics, or even full on robots, to play the games for them. Apparently, we have begun to see a new era of robot sports…. kind of. Recently, a bunch of folks gathered together to participate and watch the â??RoboCupâ?.

This event used autonomous robots who were programmed to play soccer, though honestly, not with any real skill or ability at all, which makes it all the more humorous.

While the idea is interesting, the implementation saw about one-foot-tall robots falling down, getting up and kicking at one another. According to those in attendance, you probably wouldn’t even know it was soccer at all, if someone wouldn’t have told you before you started watching.

Alright, so robots playing sports are not ready for the big league yet, but it is still something to think about. If androids eventually were able to be built fast, strong and human-sized, would they be worth watching in your favorite sport of choice? Let’s take a look a football. In a football game, there is tons of accidents that can end quite violently, this would certainly eliminate that risk. Safety aside though, what fun is it to root for a robot?

Maybe if we wanted to return to our Roman roots and watch a gladiatorial-style games where programmers pitted their robots against each other, that might be worth watching, but the truth is that the emotional moments when a stretcher pulls out onto the field to help a player that won’t get up, or the cheering on of human players, is something that makes the game, and no robot could replace it.

If we want the human element, could robotic parts find a way into the game? Imagine your favorite basketball pros making slam dunks and throwing full-court each and every time. Sounds cool, but in the long run, it would take away the importance of skill, and instead be more about who has the best electronics under the hood.

Sure, this all sounds Sci-Fi, but it might not be as far away as we believe. Ultimately, it is probably best that sports and technology are kept separate when it comes to the ‘core’ of the game, but recent innovations in tracking technology does show that technology at least can play a helpful role in refereeing and making the right calls. For those that don’t follow, both Tennis and now FIFA soccer have enacted systems that track the ball that can be used in making tough to determine calls.

Our world is rapidly changing, and it’s hard to wonder whether technology will shape all aspects of our life or not. With the importance of computers and technology, it’s hard not to keep unaffected, but for the sake of the game, perhaps at least the core rules and the way various sports are played will not be changed by future innovation.

Of course not everyone feels this way, some of us might relish the idea of robots dominating the sports world and giving us the most impressive show to watch that we’ve ever seen. Rest assured, it’s still a ways a way, but perhaps not as far as we might like to think.

Star Trek Technology

Admit it: the first time you saw what itâ??s like to play on a Holodeck â?? a fully virtual simulated environment â?? in the Star Trek series, you wanted to join Captains Kirk and Picard and boldly go where no one has gone before.

Thereâ??s something about the Star Trek universe that awakens our inner nerds, and itâ??s not only about the plot twists and the fun characters, but about the technology these characters use on a regular basis. So if youâ??ve ever thought it would be great to talk to your computer like it was a person, this article is for you: weâ??re going to tell you exactly which Star Trek technology is already here, is almost here, or is within viewing distance.

The PADD: an iPad in Disguise?

Frequent viewers of Star Trek: The Next Generation will likely recall the usage of PADD personal devices that essentially look and serve like iPads. When the first episodes depicting PADDs came out, they were viewed as future gadgets that looked nothing like modern computers. No more. Now, we have tablet computers that have all the functionality of PADD devices and more, allowing us access to books, video, messaging, video communication, and just about everything the Star Trek writers didnâ??t think of. The future is now when it comes to the PADD.

The Star Trek Computer

While our computers today are not quite as powerful as the computers on board the starship Enterprise, there is something that allows us to interact with our computers the same way Star Trek characters do: Siri. The voice-activated innovation on the iPhone 4 allows users to talk to their mobile phones almost the same way characters on Star Trek would. Although some would argue that Siri is still not up to the level of sophistication first explored in Star Trek, itâ??s only a matter of time before the technology catches up and we find ourselves talking to our phones more often than we talk through them.

Star Trek Tech

Transportation

â??Beam me up, Scottyâ? was one of the most famous repeated lines in the original Star Trek series; it turns out that teleportation really is possible, at least at the subatomic level. Scientists have been able to teleport information between atoms. Admittedly, this technology is not at the sophistication level we see in the Star Trek series â?? especially since a person contains a lot of atoms, and saving all of that information on a computer is a challenge considering modern hard drives â?? but that doesnâ??t mean transportation technology is completely out of the realm of possibility.

JORDY: Realityâ??s Equivalent to the VISOR

Remember Geordi La Forgeâ??s VISOR that allowed him to see despite being blind? The JORDY headset serves a similar purpose, enhancing the vision beyond the scope â?? pardon the pun â?? of mere glasses or goggles. Instead, JORDY allows people to zoom, enhance, change color â?? just about everything Geordi La Forge could do on Star Trek. One day, they may even design the JORDY to more resemble the VISOR, if only to have a little fun.

Here is a video of a similar device.

The Science of Star Trek

Yes that’s right, Google, partnered with Asus has launched its very own tablet. The Nexus 7. This tablet is being advertised as an entry level, budget tablet and was made to compete with the Amazon Kindle.

You can pick up your own Nexus 7 for as little as $199. The 16GB version sells for $249.

This is a great little device and has some fantastic features, it runs on the latest edition of the Android mobile operating system (4.1) nicknamed Jelly Bean, and measures 7 inches, with a 1280×800 high definition display.

Nexus 7 Launched by Google Features

This powerful little tablet has some amazing features including:

  • Quad core NvidiaTegra 3 processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 12 core GPU
  • 8GB or 16GB memory options
  • 1.2 megapixel forward facing camera
  • Microphone
  • Near field communications technology (NF)
  • Build in HDMI
  • 8 hour battery life
  • Bluetooth
  • Mono Speaker
  • GPS System

Nexus 7 Con’s

Of course with an entry level, budget tablet, there are bound to be some downsides. These include:

  • NO microSD slot for extra memory
  • No 3G or 4G option. Unfortunately it is Wi-Fi only
  • No rear facing camera
  • The battery cannot be removed
  • Unable to play Flash videos
  • Cannot turn your screen to landscape mode

More Information

The Nexus 7 is very sturdy and solidly built, with a rubber type back which makes it comfortable and easy to hold, even in one hand. It measures approximately 1.8 inches high, 4.7 inches wide, and 0.41 inches deep and weighs about .75 pounds, the only color available is black, but as with the other tablets, cases in all designs and colors should be readily available.

This tablet is the first to run on the Android (Jelly Bean) 4.1 operating system, and Google has worked hard to include some very nice new features. They have included â??buttery graphics and silky transitions,â? and enhanced the notification tray so that it shows more about alerts.

The OS also includes Google Now, which is a voice enabled search option that is comparable to Apple’s Siri, which means that you will be able to use your Nexus 7 much more easily on the go, as you can tap the microphone icon on the search bar or hold down the home button and actually ask it to search for things such as the best restaurants in the area,  or the closest gas station etc, once the search is completed, the results will appear as cards in the app. You can even ask it for the weather in a particular area and it will tellyou the information in a friendly voice.

One more feature of Google Now is that, after a little time, it will remember information based on your location, calendar, and history, and when you fire it up, it will give you information without you even having to ask. Imagine if you search for your favorite NFL team, and the next time you launch Google Now it automatically gives you the latest scores. Of course you do need an Internet connection for this to work.

You can also save Google Maps information on your tablet, so that if you are traveling you can access map information without the need of the Internet.

Another fantastic feature is the Google Play store, where you can find and purchase books, music, apps, movies, TV shows, and much more. Google has increased it’s offerings for Google Play, but at the moment it still doesn’t have quite as many listings as Apple iTunes, or Amazon.

To sum it up

While the Nexus 7 launched by Google may not have quite as many bells and whistles as the Amazon Kindle, or the B&N Nook, it is still one of the best tablets available today especially for the price. It does have some very nice features, and being the only tablet at this time to run Android 4.1 it has a lot of potential that its competitors do not. You can pre-order your own Nexus 7 here and expect it to ship in 2-3 weeks.

Most Unusual Pets To Own

In a household, pets are common. Families include dogs in their Christmas pictures and a single person may look to a cat for comfort when living alone. But cats, dogs, and fish aren’t the only animals you can have, here is a list of the top 5 Unusual Pets and why people love them.

1. Piranhas

One of the more dangerous pets on the list, Piranhas are fairly easy to obtain from an exotic pet store and are often low in cost, starting at $7. Most see Piranhas as blood thirsty beasts but in circumstances like the Red Bellied Piranhas, they are sometimes timid and scare easily. Piranhas require a diet of frozen meat and large tanks, they make a great completion to a home aquarium.

2. Sugar Gliders

Another unusual but extremely cute pet is a Sugar Glider. Since they are small and easy to take care of, they are a popular pet amongst people who are looking for an exotic pet. After an appropriate amount of training and patience a bond can be formed between an owner and a sugar glider, creating an endearing relationship and endless entertainment. Although Sugar Gliders tend to be healthy, they do require extra attention, a strict diet and a specialty vet.

3. Skunks

It is important to check your state’s laws before acquiring an exotic pet. Skunks are less likely to be found in homes not because of their smell but because of the laws restricting keeping them captive. Pet skunks can live indoors much like dogs and cats and the more you handle them as a baby, the more gentle they’ll be as adults. The glands that emit the foul smell known as their defensive mechanism against predators can be removed and coddling the pet skunk will create a bond just as strong as one an owner could have with a cat or dog.

4. Quails

If you are looking for an energetic pet, Quails are the perfect choice. People love Quails because of their ability to bring out even the most withdrawn. Research says that a Quails flightiness and skittish nature is the perfect amount of energy for an autistic individual or an individual with Aspergers. Quails are easy to care for and their diet is comparable to that of a chickens, including regular bird feed that is very low cost.

5. Potbellied Pigs

Another cute and unusual pet would be a potbellied pig. Potbellied pigs are intelligent, easy to train, affectionate, curious, playful and although it may be hard to believe, they are clean. Some things to be aware of with pigs is their quest for food and their intelligence mixed, pigs can become easily bored and may wreak havoc in your cupboards.
Although there are many reliable pets for your home, such as a dog or cat but if someone is interested in owning an exotic pet, this list may help them. With Potbellied Pigs, Quails, Skunks, Sugar Gliders, and Piranhas being equal parts entertaining, exotic and rewarding for pet owners.

The Riding Boot's History

Over the history of footwear there has been a different boot for a different job. From the world of high fashion to the practical purposes of the military, boots have always been a part of civilisation.

The world of riding is one area that has seen the epitome of elegance and sophistication, married with practicality. In fact, the history of the boot began with the necessity to wear suitable footwear for horse riding in military campaigns and defending borders.

Originally, shoes and sandles were worn with other sections skins and leathers for ankle and lower leg protection. Over time these evolved to incorporate the extra sections, and the long boot was developed. However, it took a couple of thousand years until the first recognisable knee high riding boots started to appear.

It was the Hessian soldiers of Germany who were among the first to wear these high riding boots. They were worn in the during the American Revolutionary War, bringing their own innovations for battle. The Hessians were a hired force, and used by the leaders and monarchs of countries such as Italy, the Netherlands and the British.

The Legacy Of The Hessian Boot

The original Hessian boot style, with its front high ridged cuff and tassel, would evolve into two distinct styles of boot. The Duke of Wellington, took inspiration from the clean lines of the footwear to form the Wellington boot. Because the Hessians fought in North America, there was legacy from those days. It is because of the ornate touches of the Hessian boot that cowboy boots took shape.

The legacy of the Hessian boots can still be felt today, not only from the aforementioned wellies and cowboy boots, but on into the field of professional equestrianism. Of course, as the Hessian boots were designed primarily for horse riding, this isn’t all that surprising.

Now the equestrian boot has developed into several other styles and designs. The tall riding boots are now specifically designed for field, dress attire and hunting boots. These long boot styles are made for competition. There are also the paddock boots, which are much shorter and stop at the ankle. There are many other variations on these items of equestrian footwear, but they all owe a debt to the practical finery of the Hessian forces.

The Hessians were brutal fighters, and there are many stories of their cruelty on and off the field of battle. Their legacy lives on in fashion and equestrian sports, thanks to the quality and design of their timeless riding boots.

Coin collecting is a hobby to many, and like with many collecting hobbies there are certain items that are more desirable than others. These are items that collectors would wish to own and have in their own personal collection.

The reasons certain coins are desirable can range from its value, to its design or to the story behind the coin. This post is going to tell you a little about the coins that any coin collector would love to have present in their collection.

The Queen Elizabeth II: This coin is highly sought after, as it is famous for being the worlds largest gold coin. This particular coin weighs in at a staggering 100kg, minted with the face of Queen Elizabeth II on one side and Canadian maple leaves on the other. The purity of this coin is extremely high, which is another feature that appeals to many coin collectors out there.

The 1804 Silver Dollar: Less than 20 of these types of coins exist in the world. The strange thing about this coin is that it was not minted in the year on the coin, a curiosity that makes it most coin collectors dream. In 1804 no silver coins were minted in America with this date on them. All the coins minted in 1804 were minted with the previous year, 1803. The 1804 silver dollar was actually minted in the year 1834.

The EDWARD III Double Florin: This coin is a rare coin from the medieval era and rumours state that it is the third most expensive coin in the world. Many coin collectors would love to own one of these coins due to its age and because it was only in circulation for 8 months in 1343, making it one special and unique coin to add to any collection.

The 1804 Ten Dollar Gold Piece: It is believed that fewer than ten of these coinswere ever produced, but only the whereabouts of three are actually known. This either suggests that only 3 were made or there are still some hidden out there somewhere waiting to be discovered. You may have noticed that this coin also bears the date 1804, and yes you guessed it, this coin was also minted like the silver nickel in 1834.

The Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagle Coin: This coin is valued at just under US$ 8 million US and is often just referred to as the 1993 Double Eagle. This coin is eagerly sought after by coin collectors as none were ever officially circulated, instead they were just melted down. It is the rarity of these coin is what makes it so appealing to coin collectors.

The 1913 Liberty Nickel: This particular coin is many coin collectors dream at it was produced without the maker ever knowing about it. Why this is the case still remains a mystery. One theory suggests that these nickels were made as a tester whilst other theories have claimed that the coins were illegally made by a worker in the factory who never owned up.

These six coins are the coins that any coin collector would love to have. Each coin has its own unique story to why they are so desirable. If coin collecting is your hobby, these are the coins that you would dream of owning.

Missile imageThe world of weaponry has changed dramatically over the years. There are a number of interesting things in weaponry that have shown how differently people are fighting than ever before. You might be surprised as to what is going on in the weapons industry.

Drone Procedures

Drone imageHave you ever wondered what it would be like to attack an area from a remote distance? Drones are making this possible. Drones are used with remote control features and cameras that can view areas from different spots from a long distance. You can use a drone to attack areas by air or land.

Pollen Bullets are Interesting

Bullet imageYou could use pollen bullets if you are with the military or police force. These weapons are used to track a personâ??s DNA in the event that a person is trying to flee an area. A pollen bullet may be used to interact with sweat and other particles on the body to find information on a person who did something. This could be used to identify DNA and find the culprit of something.

Chemicals are Being Used

Chemical weapons imageChemicals are being used in more weapons than ever before. You might find some weapons that are made with special containers that feature harmful gases that can explode upon contact with something. This is an interesting thing that you might want to understand for the future because chemicals are being used often. Still, there are worries about whether or not chemicals are safe to use.

Precision-Guided Materials

laser guided missile imagePrecision-guided materials can also be used with different things like missiles and bullets. You could find some weapons from major military groups that involve remote control materials that are used to target an area in a specific spot. This is often used to analyze whatâ??s in an area. It has to be used well to see that things are running the right way without any serious wind hassles coming in an area where you are trying to go in.

The technology advancements that you might see in weapons are interesting to find. You might find out information on these weapons on places like http://www.howtogetrid.org/ where youâ??d learn how to handle weapons issues but there are also cases where you might find information at a local weaponry store or military service provider. Either way, the things youâ??d see are very interesting for you to find.
