Healthcare, just like any other field of knowledge, does not stay still. X-rays, anesthesia and antibiotics did not even exist centuries ago. These medicinal innovations seemed impossible and futuristic. It is hard to imagine our modern lives without these simple medical tools that saved lives to millions of people.
Once considered impossible and fictional, nano-tech era is conquering the world. It affected the medical field as well. Nano technologies are no longer associated with science fiction and fantasy genre, it is becoming more real than 10 years ago.
The development of nano technology contributed to the tangible impact on modern healthcare system. Nano-inventions will soon help people live longer, control and cure diseases.
Whatâ??s a nanobot?
Nanobot is a robot or a chip that performs different tasks in accordance with its programming. Programmed nanobots should react in a certain way under the predicted conditions. The tiny size of a nanobot (about one billionth of a meter) allows it to make miracles. Rapid developments in the IT industry created the smallest processors for nanobots. The stronger the processor, the smarter and smaller the nanobot is. In the nearest future they will perform more tasks, such as affecting the cancerous cells, killing harmful germs and unclogging arteries in our bodies.
First appliances
Nano tech is able to treat diabetes. This technology was originally tested on laboratory mice. Nanobots release insulin in right amounts through its tiny holes, thus preventing pancreatic cells from escaping and white cells from entering. Tiny nanobots would float around your body releasing insulin. Your body would not fight against insulin as the size of the defensive cells would prevent them from entering and interfering with the process.
Targeted nanoparticles would reach cancerous cells or tumors and deliver drugs that otherwise may be harmful to healthy tissues. Clinical trials have not yet achieved the right balance between the programmed actions of nanobots and their actual behavior. The technology needs some adjustments in order to prevent the bloodstream from carrying the particles to the liver while nanobots fail to release the drugs.
Scientists from Massachusets Institute of Technology work on nanoparticle factories that create glowing proteins. Protein drugs are ineffective as the human body degrades them before they even have a chance to do their job. Nanobots are able to deliver proteins where they are needed in the body. Nanobots carry the bacterial extracts that cells use for creating proteins. It also contains the glowing DNA of a jellyfish visible to the ultraviolet. Successful experiments on mice encouraged scientists to head further in this direction.
Soon enough nanobots would become a norm. They would cruise around our bodies and fight cancer and any tumor. Nanobots will have the potential to work with any cellular malfunction. They would deliver a chemotheraupetic drugs to the place in a body that needs it the most. It would be easier to target almost any incurable disease with nanobotic technology. Its potential is difficult to underestimate. You never know, but your next visit to a doctor might include seeing a nano-doctor.

Screen printing involves the transfer of ink to a piece of material in a specific pattern set by a stencil.
This is one of the most common methods used to transfer images onto cloth or similar material. It is a pretty simple process, only complicated by the type of material that the ink is being transferred to and the details of the pattern of the stencil.
There are several sites that realized that there was a gap in the T-shirt industry with regard to personalization based on individual creativity and they bridged the gap by providing custom screen printing services. The trouble with these is that the cost of production was significantly higher for those clients who only needed their images transferred to one or two pieces of clothing. This option was therefore not economical for individuals unless they were printing shirts for soccer or bowling team or a group of individuals greater than five people.
Times have changed since those days, thanks to the increased dependence on mobile phone applications, making it easier for individuals to make custom screen printed clothing for cheap. One such app that has taken the mobile industry by storm is the Lumityper app.
What is it?
Simply put, this is an app that uses water based, inkodye and dilutable dyes to transfer photographs to clothing and other materials.
Starting the process
Once you download the Lumityper application on your phone, take a picture using it and it will convert it to a negative which you can have printed at any photo lab. This printout can then be placed over the material you want to print the image on and will act as the stencil. Then, a specialized dye is applied. Once applied, the garment is exposed to the sunshine for a while until you notice that the dye color has changed. The process is complete. All you need to do now is launder it with a special detergent provided to clean out the garment without removing the dye and ruining all your good work.
Why it is loved and embraced by many
This revolutionary technology can be used on several clothing materials such as cotton, silk, wool, linen and even wood. As long as the fiber is natural, it can be used. The texture of the materials does not hinder this process from working. Rough materials will produce great results just like smooth materials. It requires minimal skills to apply and the process is simple to use. The quality of the imagery produced is high and almost lifelike. It also uses natural sunshine and is therefore an environmentally friendly option.
Some caveats
There are a few disadvantages to this technology is that it only comes in three colors that is; blue, red and orange. It is also only available on apple gadgets such as iPads and iPhones. The developers are however working on an android version due to growing demand for the application and the proliferation of android users in the market. Another disadvantage is that this technology may not be used on synthetic or artificial fiber. But all in all, its strengths more than outweigh its weaknesses!

It allows a high extent of customization depending on the information you wish to receive. Hockey stakeholders who wish to get information on the highlights, scores, news and video files of hockey games should have this app on their phones.
NHL GameCenter â?? This is another app that all fans should have since it gives specific information regarding upcoming events, contests, news and statistics. You can tailor it to spotlight your favorite team in terms of prioritizing information related to it. It also relays information on tactics as well as critiques that are posted.
ESPN ScoreCenter â?? This offers information on statistics and scores and gives you a total access to videos, analysis and latest information in the major sports and games.
Sports Illustrated Front Row – Gives you detailed information, close up photos and in depth analysis from key games. The profiles of the team players are also available for access.
You can also catch the latest news about the sport via other media like the dailies over the internet which provide headline information and breaking news pieces in the world of hockey and other sports. Live updates and scores for major sports games are also available online so you can always follow a game even when you are not physically there.
Some people love hockey but find it hard to follow up on their favorite sport due to their time schedules. Although this article is written to feature only iPhone apps, if you own another brand of smartphones, there are also plenty of other smartphone apps developed for your phone such as an Android or a BlackBerry that can keep you well-informed when it comes to the hockey games that you want to follow. So all you have to do is just search through your smartphone’s app center and you can easily find one to help you with this! All in all, for the Apple’s users, with the above iPhone apps, there are certainly no excuses for you to say that it is hard to be in the know when it comes to your hockey games!

Introduction

After the recent Sandy Hook shootings, thereâ??s been a lot of talk in the media about the effects of gaming. Gaming addiction, a condition some people aren’t even sure technically exists, seems to be being displayed as some sort of equivalent to devil worshipping and bear baiting. The facts â?? if the mainstream media bothered to do a little research â?? are far less shocking.
Fanning the Flames
Gaming is a relatively new medium and is still finding its place in modern society. In 100 years, itâ??ll be fully accepted like reading, listening to music or watching films. Things are better than they were fifteen years ago, and theyâ??ll be better again in another fifteen. The problem is that itâ??s such a new medium that weâ??re not entirely sure the effects prolonged exposure might have on the brain. For the vast majority I think we can safely say that there will be no negative side effects, but the occasional anomaly might find themselves playing to excess.
Is it really necessary to say that doing anything to excess is a bad idea? The very meaning of the word excess implies that it involves too much of something, and yet this is something that the mainstream media often overlook. They intentionally spread misinformation to people hungry to be misinformed. Theyâ??re fanning the flames and manage to make things look far worse than they are.
Gaming Addiction
Gaming addiction is a symptom, not a problem in and of itself. Addiction to online games especially is a sign that things aren’t as they should be in an individualâ??s real life. Beautiful locations, the chance to prove themselves, simpler, fairer laws and a distinct line between good and evil; is there any wonder that somebody disillusioned with their life would turn to a game like World of Warcraft or Guild Wars 2 to avoid their problems?
Itâ??s also important to actually define addiction. Somebody who watches a TV talent show, watches the additional expose shows, watches the repeats and â??view againâ? versions of the show and then hits YouTube for the best bits is unlikely to be labelled as an addict. They might do that for two or three shows, maybe more, but thatâ??s still seen as socially acceptable and, actually, is probably pretty normal amongst people of a certain age. Somebody who spends the same amount of time playing a video game, regardless of whether their responsibilities and social life are affected, would probably become a source of worry.
The biggest suggestion I can give to somebody worried about somebody they know being addicted to online gaming is for them to ask themselves if the person theyâ??re worried about is actually playing to excess, if they refuse to get a job or live up to other responsibilities. If the answer to any of those questions is yes, try to find out why. Itâ??s not because the lure of the digital world is so strong, but because the real world doesn’t offer anything worth doing. It could be a sign of deep depression or much, much worse, and not that your loved one is geeking themselves to death.
Conclusion
The words â??gaming addictionâ? are thrown around far too often and the people that use the phrase make no effort to understand it. In their simple, double digit IQ world, removing the problem will solve the problem. They fail to see that by banning video games or increasing government control on them, those who suffer will just move onto something else.

Metal sculptures are a popular form of art work. But you don’t have to be a famous artist to enjoy the different types of metal work.
In fact you can make a metal sculpture on your own time at home. It is a relaxing way to use your hands and challenge your mind. Here is an easy plan to help you make a masterpiece out of metal.
Instructions on how to build a metal sculpture:
Step One: Design
Think about your sculpture before you actually put pen to paper. Brainstorm in your mind cool ideas. You can do research and look at other forms too. After you have an idea of what you want to do you can sketch it out on paper. Draw the aspects of your sculpture that you want to include.
Step Two: Buy Material
The next part is to purchase the metal that you plan to use for your art piece. You can go to a home store and buy sheet metal. It is thin and easy to mold and work with. If you want to be thrift you can go to a junk yard and look for scrap metal.
Step 3:Â Gather Material
After you buy your metal you will want to gather all of your supplies. Look for metal pieces about 1/8 of an inch thick. If you get anything thicker than this size it will be very difficult to bend.?gather all your material and get ready to start building your art piece.
Step Four:Â Calculate the Measurements
It is important and necessary for each piece of your sculpture to be measured. You can use paint or a pen to mark the outlines of your piece. Use the measurements than put on the sheet metal.
Step Five: Trim
If you need to trim or cut your sheet metal down this is the best time to do that. If you don’t need to cut it you can begin to fold the metal to your liking.
Step Six: Shape
?Shape the pieces of metal as needed. Some people use their hands for the shaping but don’t shape it if the metal is hot. It is a good idea to make sure that the metal is cool enough so you don’t burn your fingers.
Step Seven:Â Put Together all the PiecesÂ
Now you can connect the piece together to create bigger shapes. You could weld the larger metal pieces together by using a plasma torch.
Step Eight: Finish
Once you are happy with your design you can finish your masterpiece sculpture by applying a epoxy acrylic coating to the entire sculpture. This method will give the sculpture a glossy appearance plus it will as protect it from nature’s elements and rust?in the future.

Innovative Engineering Marvels
The world is full of wonderful sights; waterfalls, mountains, icebergs, buildings, tunnels, bridges, that cause jaws to drop and gasps to be uttered. While purists might disagree, the man-made structures are just as impressive as the ones that appear in nature because of the amazing feats that were overcome to design and build such structures.
Three Amazing Structures
Here’s a look at some of the most marvelous man-made creations on the planet today:
The Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre in Dallas, Texas – This theater which is part of the At&T Performing Arts Center is able to change its configuration as needed. The theater seats 600 people and is able to change shape thanks to a mechanical “superfly” system. Support spaces are stacked above and below the building making it a theater machine that’s 12-stories high and looks like a piece of art all by itself.
The National Stadium in Beijing, China – Nicknamed the “Bird’s Nest” due to it’s shape and the way the steel bars are designed, this building was created for the 2008 Olympic Games and seats 80,000 people. It was designed by Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron of Switzerland. The structure that is made of nearly 26 miles of steel is extremely energy-efficient and environmentally friendly. Rainwater is collected in underground cisterns and used for restrooms and irrigating the grounds.
Beacon Hill Station and Tunnels in Seattle, Washington – On the outside, the Beacon Hill Light Rail Station looks like a small brick building, but on the inside it’s much more. Commuters go 160-feet underground to the station and its tunnels that link the downtown area with the SeaTac Airport. Modern sculptures light up the tunnels that are literally beneath the rest of the city.
Palm Islands in Dubai, United Arab Emirates – Located in the Persian Gulf, these palm tree-shaped islands make up the world’s largest artificial island. Islands are formed by putting sand in the seabed in a process known as rainbowing. The islands were constructed by a local development company, Nakheel Properties, and have helped add more than 300 miles of beaches to the shoreline.
Concordia University in Mequon, Wisconsin– Though not apparent to the casual observer, the Lakeshore Environmental Enhancement and Education Project at the university is a great engineering feat that received an ASCE Award of Merit. Sitting atop a 130-foot-high bluff on the shores of Lake Michigan, more than 20,000 tons of sediment was washing away from the property each year until the project used 100,000 tons of stone, rock and vegetation to stabilize the land.
These are just a few of the most innovative engineering projects that have been developed recently. In the coming years people can expect to see projects of a larger scope be designed and developed to make all aspects of people’s lives better.

The music industry is tougher now than it ever has been.
With pop music becoming more and more diluted into something that would have been laughed off as a joke 10 years ago (I’m looking at YOU Will.i.am!) and the more alternative acts feeling marginalised as a result, it’s harder than ever before for fledgling acts to find their footing on the first rung on the ladder. Record labels are closing every day due to poor sales across the board and as a result only ‘sure things’ are being let through the gate these days.
But that shouldn’t stop you if you really love what you’re doing! It’s a myth (popularised by the media) that you need to be ‘signed’ to have a career in music. Indeed the opposite might well be true as for years major record labels have been manipulating and ripping off their clients. Although the legions of screaming fans and luxury coaches you see sitting outside your favourite bands sold-out, headline gig might seem extraordinary, it’s all just a hirejob really; that band won’t be making the bulk of the money as the fat cats behind the curtain will.
So why not do it yourself
So you’re in a band, you’ve been together for a few months now and you think you’re pretty good? Yet before you even begin to consider stepping out into the cruel world of unsigned music you should really make sure you’re the best that you can possibly be. The Internet age has led to a surplus of bands, as the tools with which to record and distribute music are now readily available to every tom, dick and harry at very little cost. So it’s more important than ever to stand out from the crowd.
The first gig
Your first gig should be a massive deal, that can’t be expressed enough. If it’s out of town then hire a luxury coach to ferry all of your friends and family members to the show and they’ll feel like it’s a real ‘event’. Contact all local media outlets (no matter how small) and make sure they send someone down to cover the show; this means online blogs, local magazines and radio stations and even smaller labels (you might not want to be signed, but they will have contacts that can prove useful). Merchandise is also vital. Even though you’ve never played a note in public you should have a demo CD and T-Shirt stall set-up, perhaps if you charge for entry to the show you could give away a CD and Shirt with every ticket purchased. You will almost certainly end up out of pocket but you’ll also have made a massive impression.
Marketing your ‘product’
Even though you loath to admit it, you’re band is a ‘product’. Snobbery is not a luxury that you can afford in the unsigned band circuit and you can coach yourself to think otherwise but you’d be lying, you are a product, a product that wishes to hire itself out to the highest possible bidder (your audience). So once you have a professionally produced piece of music (just because it’s produced from home doesn’t mean it can’t sound professional) you should try and make its presence felt both online and in the physical world. A good idea for a debut release would be to make it an online only, free digital purchase. There are numerous websites that will host your music for free, some of which will even include promotional tools that can prove invaluable. Also try to shoot a cheap video for your song. It won’t be news to anyone that YouTube is a monumentally important platform for musicians in the 21st Century and if your video is smart enough, who knows, it might even go ‘viral’.
At the end of the day, if you’re not 100% into your music then all of this advice will be lost on you. It’s a different world now than it was even 10 years ago and if you’re looking to establish a lasting career in the music industry you’re going to have to be prepared to spend months, years, maybe decades working ‘real’ jobs to subsidise your passion.
If your heart is in it completely though and you have a thick enough skin, whether you end up making any money or not, you’ll have one hell of a ride!
Ian Appleton is a writer who has a real interest in the rock music scene. He often dreams of being in his own band and using a Luxury Coach Hire Company to take him from gig to gig.

For many avid gamers, Xbox, Wii and Playstation are some of the go-to sources when it comes to high quality video games. However, the future of these game consoles might just become bleak if a game-enabled Apple TV enters the market. At least that is what Nat Brown, Microsoft Xbox co-founder, fears.
In his personal blog entitled â??Stupid, Stupid Xbox,â? Brown penned that Apple can easily dominate the video game market, should it decide to integrate gaming capabilities to its Apple TV set top box. When that happens, game developers would just jump on-board, which could become the end of Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft.
Lack of platform for Indie developers
Brown pointed out that the most critical problem that Microsoft faces is the lack of a versatile developing ecosystem that will provide small or independent game developers to create games for Xbox without the need for expensive equipment.
Brown goes on saying that Microsoft developer programs charges its console developers $10,000 annually for membership and for games to be published on its platform, not to mention they require the filing of a ton of paperwork, with Microsoft having the power to take over a game. These things, in turn, makes it nearly impossible for small and independent developers to embrace the platform.
Apple could just be ready to catch
According to Brown, the area where Microsoft is lacking is actually where Apple could come in and dominate. Apple is already a games competitor even if it has not yet made Apple TV a game platform or a console. In fact, the tech giant already has a viable system available where developers can publish apps with great ease. That means, game developers would only need for Apple to make a game-enabled TV and they would no doubt take the plunge to make games for Apple. Brown even pointed that he would be the first person to write apps for Apple TV because he knows he will make money when that happens.
Of course, Brown is not the only established name in the console gaming world to gripe over the potential impact that Apple will make if it moves on and develops a game-enabled TV. In January, Gabe Newell, software engineer and co-founder of Valve notes that Apple is, in fact, the biggest challenge to the PC and console gaming industry’s future. He noted that Apple could easily roll the console industry once it moves to the living room.
It should be noted that Apple TV currently does not support gaming applications and lacks the necessary hardware to power up such as software. However, as cheaper hardware is more accessible, the ability of Apple to reinvent its products and, of course, the company’s interest in entering the television sector, Brown and Newell’s fear might just happen. Hopefully, before that time comes, the console gaming industry would be able to figure things out. Otherwise, it might face its end.
