REVIEW

STR TV is a blank-slate Tizen channel from a same-named publisher.

A free lifestyle channel on Samsung TV with no store description, no screenshots, and no ratings yet — graded on what the listing actually tells you, which is very little.

STR TV arrived in Samsung’s Tizen store on 30 March 2026 and updated again in mid-April, which is most of what can be said about it with confidence. The publisher name on the listing matches the channel name, the category is lifestyle, the install is free, and beyond that the Samsung store page is blank — no description copy, no screenshots, no featured artwork, no user ratings.

That isn’t unusual for the Tizen long tail. Samsung’s submission tooling lets a developer ship a working channel with the minimum required artwork and no descriptive copy at all, and a lot of regional, single-purpose, or early-stage publishers do exactly that. What it means in practice is the viewer scrolling Samsung’s lifestyle row sees a tile with a three-letter acronym and a publisher line, and is asked to commit to an install before getting any sense of what plays when the channel opens.

STR TV is the kind of Tizen listing that asks you to trust the install button before it explains what’s behind it. For a generic acronym in a crowded lifestyle category, that’s a hard ask — and the only honest review is one that grades the listing as it stands today.

STR TV is the kind of Tizen listing that asks you to trust the install button before it explains what's behind it.

FEATURES

STR TV is published under the developer name STR TV, filed in Samsung's lifestyle category, free to install on any Tizen-compatible Samsung TV from the on-device store. The Samsung listing shows an icon, a publisher line, and a category badge — nothing else. There is no long description, no short description, no screenshots, no preview video, and no rating data, because the channel only appeared in the Tizen store on 30 March 2026.

What that means functionally: a Samsung TV owner clicking through the lifestyle row sees the STR TV tile, the publisher name, and the install button, and gets no further information before committing. The acronym is generic enough that it could plausibly stand for a regional broadcaster, a short-term-rental operator, a fitness brand, or a religious channel. The store does not say.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

Free and on-device is the win, modest as that is. STR TV ships through Samsung's official Tizen channel store, which means signed packaging, automatic updates via the Samsung apps pipeline, and no sideloading required. For a publisher this new on a closed platform, clearing the Samsung submission process at all is a non-trivial bar.

The April 2026 update timestamp suggests the developer is still actively iterating two weeks after launch, which is more engagement than most one-shot Tizen channels show in their first month.

ROOM TO IMPROVE

The empty store listing is the issue. Samsung's Tizen store lets publishers add a long-form description, multiple screenshots, a featured image, and a preview reel — STR TV has supplied none of them. A lifestyle channel without a description is asking the viewer to install blind, and most won't. Filling in the basic listing fields would change this review materially.

No ratings yet is harder to grade — the channel is six weeks old at the time of this review, and Tizen's review surface is thin to begin with. But the absence of any user signal, paired with the absence of any publisher signal, leaves nothing for a new viewer to anchor on.

CONCLUSION

Skip unless you arrived at this listing knowing what STR stands for and what you expect from it. The publisher has cleared Samsung's submission gate and is updating actively, which suggests there is something real behind the tile — but the store page itself doesn't tell you what. Worth a revisit if the developer fills in the listing fields and the channel accumulates a few dozen user ratings.
