REVIEW

SMARTERS PRO is a workmanlike IPTV player for users bringing their own playlist.

Tech Smarters' Tizen build is the same M3U/Xtream Codes player available across half a dozen storefronts, ported to Samsung TVs without surprises and without polish.

The IPTV-player category is one of the older living genres on smart TVs — descended from the open-source XBMC / Kodi era and the M3U-playlist conventions that came with it, surviving as a low-margin paid-once install across every TV storefront that allows it. SMARTERS PRO is one of the more visible names in the category, a multi-platform player from Tech Smarters Private Limited that ships essentially the same product on Tizen, LG webOS, Android TV, Fire TV, and several mobile platforms. The Tizen build is the version most Samsung-TV households would touch.

What it is, technically, is fine. The player parses M3U URLs and Xtream Codes credentials, fetches EPG data, plays the codecs Samsung’s TV decoder supports, and offers a multi-screen mode that’s a genuine asset for sports-watching households. What it isn’t is a designed product — the interface is the kind of saturated, gradient-heavy IPTV-app aesthetic that hasn’t been refreshed in years, and the Tizen-platform conventions that distinguish first-party Samsung apps don’t apply here.

The harder editorial question is what users typically do with SMARTERS PRO. The app itself is content-neutral, which is the correct legal architecture; the dominant install pattern is, however, paired with a grey-market provider sold via Telegram or reseller forums for a fraction of the cost of the legitimate streaming service the content originated on. App Comrade’s position is to score the app on the design and tooling — competent, not polished, mid-band — and to be honest about the ecosystem it lives in. If you have a legitimate playlist source, this is a workable install. If you don’t, the legal and quality risks of the upstream are not the app’s fault but they are real.

SMARTERS PRO is the IPTV-player equivalent of a generic remote — competent, unbranded, and uninterested in the design of its own product.

FEATURES

SMARTERS PRO on Tizen is Tech Smarters Private Limited's IPTV-playlist player, a paid-once install that runs M3U URL playlists and Xtream Codes API credentials supplied by the user. Tech Smarters ships variants of the same player across Samsung Tizen, LG webOS, Android TV, Fire TV, iOS, and Android — the Tizen build mirrors the feature set of the wider portfolio rather than adapting to the platform.

Major surfaces: Live TV (channel grid driven by your playlist's category metadata), VOD (movie and series sections if your provider exposes them via Xtream Codes), EPG (electronic programme guide pulled from XMLTV URLs or the provider API), Catch-Up / Time Shift (where the upstream provider supports it), Multi-Screen (a four-quadrant layout for watching multiple channels at once on supported hardware), External Player (hand-off to alternative decoders for codecs the built-in player chokes on).

No content of its own. SMARTERS PRO is a player; the user supplies the streams. The app does not host, sell, or recommend channels — that's the architectural pitch and the legal cover.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

As a generic Xtream Codes client, the app works. Playlist parsing handles the standard M3U variants, the EPG fetcher copes with XMLTV URLs of reasonable size, and the Tizen player engine plays the codecs Samsung TVs play (H.264, H.265 / HEVC where the panel supports it, AAC / AC3 audio). Channel zapping is responsive on recent Tizen hardware and the EPG-grid scrolling is smooth enough on 2022-and-newer panels.

Multi-screen mode is genuinely useful for sports households running two or three live games at once. The four-quadrant layout, when the panel and the source streams cooperate, is the most differentiated feature in the SMARTERS PRO lineup and the one most reviewers single out positively.

Account-credential storage is encrypted on-device, the parental-control PIN works, and the user-profile system supports multiple household members with separate playlist URLs and favourites.

ROOM TO IMPROVE

The interface is dated. Menu typography and spacing are sized for 1080p sets without much consideration for 4K rendering; the colour palette is the kind of saturated dark-blue gradient that signals "IPTV app" before you read any text. Tizen-native conventions (the One UI design language Samsung uses across its first-party apps) are absent.

Stream-source legality is the user's problem, and SMARTERS PRO's marketing materials lean toward the grey-market reseller channel that powers most of its installs. The app itself is content-neutral, which is the correct legal posture, but the user research path leads quickly to providers selling unauthorised access to premium content. App Comrade's editorial position is that the app's design intent and the dominant user behaviour are not separable here.

Customer support is thin. The developer's response cadence on bug reports is slow, the changelog is minimal, and the Tizen-specific issue tracker (where one exists) is harder to reach than the Android-TV equivalent.

CONCLUSION

Install SMARTERS PRO on Tizen if you have a legitimate IPTV provider — a regional operator selling licensed streams over IP, a corporate / hospitality video distribution system, a personal Plex / Jellyfin export — and you want a playlist player that handles the standard formats. Don't install it expecting a polished design experience or thinking the app's neutrality covers any provider you point it at. The app is a tool. What you do with it is on you.
